Donald Anderson and Nikki Quismondo!
Please take a moment
to read some very exciting news!

ABOUT US:

Hello fellow artists and poets, we would like to invite you to be part of our new publishing project Sun Shadow Mountain. The project is an anthology full of poetry and art work contributed by artists and poets.

Our goal as publishers is to see to it that artists get known for their remarkable talents. We understand how difficult it is to try and get major publishing companies to look and accept our work.

So, instead of us sitting around waiting for our names to be on the next best seller’s list, we decided to do something about it ourselves! We decided, "Why not publish our own book!"

And so, we know, as being poets ourselves, that mostly we just want to get published in a book and have others notice our work and our talents so that we can share our personal experiences with writing to others.

We have been involved in many projects before, working at the long hours of the night, stapling papers together to form our newsletter, or binding our own books together, doing layouts, putting poetry together, etc..., etc...

Our projects were very fun and exciting, and got the community involved by showing their support for local poets and artists. We have been to many open mic sessions, seen the poetry world for it’s beauty, and have been involved in promotions, entered contests, been the judges of contests, all around the California valley.

Our passion is to continue to make it easy and fun for those artists and poets to get published, to get known and to share their talents! and so, we found a way.... please read the following information so that you can decide if you would like to participate in this incredible venture into the poetry and art world, because you too, can be a published author, in our new book, Sun Shadow Mountain.

CALLING ALL AUTHORS AND ARTISTS:

We are looking for material to fill the pages of our latest publishing project "Sun Shadow Mountain". There is no entry fee and we do not pay artists for their work, however, artists are entitled to royalty fees. Copies of the book may be purchased online at www.lulu.com estimated at just under $10.00 each, depending upon the page count, flat manufacturing cost, and royalties. The royalty fees go towards the manufacturer, the publishers, and divided amongst the authors and artists. Royalty fees will be determined by the amount of material that is accepted and the amount of authors and artists we have in the book.

"Sun Shadow Mountain" is a 6"x 9" paperback with perfect binding, 60# Cream interior paper, black and white interior ink, 100# white exterior, full color exterior ink. It will be made available online at www.lulu.com.

Lulu.com is an online publishing company that has no set up fees and no minimum orders. Each product is printed as it is ordered. There is no excess inventory and the authors keep control of the rights. We are making "Sun Shadow Mountain" our newest anthology! We are looking for both, poetry and art. We are also looking for a cover artist. All entries must adhere to the theme, "Sun Shadow Mountain."

The book is estimated to be 169 pages. There are approximately 41 lines per page in Arial font, size 11-pt. with size 8-pt. for spaces in between that fit on a 6"x 9" page with 1/2 "margins. Preferred format for poetry submissions is Microsoft Works or possibly Microsoft Word, or if you have no computer, hand written and sent by post mail. Submissions of art, must be copies not originals, sent by post mail or submitted by email in .jpg, .gif, .tif, .png, or bitmap forms, no .pdf’s please!

All submissions are reviewed and selected upon relevance to the theme, aesthetic qualities, how well they compliment each other, their appeal to a broad array of readers, available space, original works, suitability for most age groups, and stylistic elements of poetic diction. All submissions must contain contact info for the author or artist.

All Authors and Artists must send a biography of 2 to 4 lines. The biography can include the author’s and artists accomplishments, history, beliefs, age, contact info. or any other creative form to let the readers know more about them.

Photographs with the bios are highly attractive and are encouraged, although, not required. Photos may be submitted, when author or artist is selected, in post mail or email in jpg, .gif, .tif, .png, or bitmap forms, no .pdf’s please! If you send photos that you want returned, please include a self addressed stamped envelope with a note requesting that you wish us to do so.

The response date will be 2 weeks after your submission(s). We are now accepting as many submissions as possible. The closing date for all submissions is January 7th, 2007. The submissions received the earliest are most likely to get a higher priority for available space, except where aesthetics dictate. Tentative dates of the publishers schedule is posted on http://www.Sun Shadow Mountain Website for those of you who wish to view current progress on the book. There will be meetings held for the authors and publishers at later dates posted on www.rainflowers.org .

So please get your submissions in today! We are looking forward to making the best poetry anthology ever! We are very excited to receive your poetic work and artwork. We are looking forward to seeing your talent published!
Thanks from the publishers,
Donald Anderson & Nikki Quismondo
